THE GAME PLAN

Headjam: a webcam multiplayer browser game

Your camera is the controller. Headjam turns a live video room into a multiplayer party game: move your head under the ball, send it into another player’s panel, and keep it airborne. Miss a bounce and you’re out for that round. The last head standing wins.

02–06 PLAYERS

Bring your crew

Create a private room for 2–6 players and share the invite link or room code with friends. Everyone enables their camera and marks themselves ready; the host starts the game. You can see your friends’ reactions while the ball bounces between their video panels.

RANKED 1V1

Find your rival

Choose “Find a match” for a ranked 1v1 duel. Matchmaking looks for an opponent around your Elo rating. The first player to win five rounds takes the match. Gold bonuses add points, but do not count as round wins. Ranked results update your rating.

SOLO + TWO BOTS

Warm up first

Try solo practice against two bot opponents before inviting anyone. It uses the same head controls, so you can find a comfortable camera position and learn the bounce timing. You need a webcam; practice does not require microphone access.

HEADS UP. HANDS DOWN.

How to play Headjam

  1. Pick your game. Open Headjam on a computer, enter a player name, and choose a private room, ranked match, or solo practice. No game download or installation is needed.
  2. Get your head in frame. Allow camera access when prompted. Face the webcam in good lighting and leave yourself space to move. Wait until the game detects your head.
  3. Start the round. In private rooms, everyone taps “I’m ready” and the host starts. Ranked play begins when both players’ heads are ready. Keep your camera on.
  4. Keep the ball up. Move beneath the ball when it reaches your panel. A quick upward header adds speed; tilting your head changes the bounce angle. Fire, ice, and split-ball powerups can change the next move.

BEFORE YOU BOUNCE

Common questions

What do I need to play?

A desktop or laptop computer, a working webcam, an internet connection, and a browser that supports camera access. Headjam runs in the browser; you do not need to install a separate app.

Can I play on my phone?

Gameplay is designed for a computer webcam. Use a desktop or laptop to play; you can read this guide on your phone.

How does the webcam control work?

Head tracking runs in your browser. Head coordinates go to the game server to control the ball. In multiplayer rooms, live video and available audio are shared with other players through WebRTC. Solo practice needs no microphone.

Can I play without a group?

Yes. Solo practice gives you two bot opponents. Ranked matchmaking finds another player for a 1v1 duel, so you do not need to arrange a private room.
